As part of an ongoing investigation, Vancouver police officers, with the help of police dog Tripp, found more than $53,000 Tuesday after officers stopped a subject and searched a vehicle.

The police said officers were investigating a crime ring, and in the course of an investigation found a subject in possession of more than $13,000 in allegedly ill-gotten cash.

Officers located the subject’s vehicle, and Vancouver Officer Roger Evans and his dog, Tripp, responded.

The police said Tripp caught a whiff of what smelled like drugs, and after investigators secured a warrant for the car, they found another $40,000 stashed inside.

The police said the larger investigation continues. The man’s name has not been released.
