A Vancouver man is expected to be arraigned today on murder charges stemming from a 2015 shooting in Portland that left a 21-year-old man dead.
US Marshals arrested Javier Fernando Hernandez, 20, in Troutdale, Ore. on Tuesday on suspicion of murder, attempted aggravated murder, attempted murder and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
Authorities also arrested a Vancouver woman on Friday in connection to the case. Cynthia Anne Scholer, 46, was arrested on suspicion of six counts of hindering prosecution and a count of tampering with physical evidence.
Portland police began investigating after the shooting was reported at 2:33 p.m. on Dec. 16 near Southeast 112th Avenue and Division Street.
The victim, 21-year-old Kyle Polk, suffered traumatic injuries and lifesaving efforts were made, but he died at the scene, police said.
Portland homicide detectives followed leads in the case and investigated for eight months, leading to a Multnomah County Grand Jury indicting Hernandez and Scholer in the case, police said.
