At the urging of the Secretary of State’s office, the Clark County Elections Office has opted to push back its mail-in voter registration a day.

Previously, the state’s date to register to vote in time for the Nov. 8 General Election was Oct. 10. But that’s Columbus Day, meaning post offices will be closed, Elections Director Cathie Garber said Monday.

Clark County, therefore, is extending the mail-in deadline to Oct. 11.

All other dates remain unchanged, Garber said.

Online registration forms can be submitted up until midnight on Oct. 10. Registration forms can be found at clarkvotes.org.

Current registered voters must change their address online before midnight on Oct. 10; address changes made by mail must be postmarked by Oct. 11.

The Clark County Elections Office, at 1408 Franklin St., Vancouver, also will be open until 5 p.m. on Oct. 10 to accept address changes made by telephone or in person.

Those who aren’t registered to vote in Washington at all have a bit more time past the approaching deadline, and can register to vote in person at the elections office through Oct. 31.

Ballots will be available beginning Oct. 21.
