Oregon State Police investigators are looking for additional information after sheriff’s deputies found the body of a Vancouver man, dead by apparent suicide, lying alongside his vehicle on Interstate 84 west of Arlington, Ore.

Sherman and Gilliam county sheriff’s deputies arrived in the area Thursday after multiple passers-by called it in.

The deputies found Phillip H. Webb, 36, dead with a single gunshot wound to his head, according to the Oregon State Police.

The agency said investigators think the wound was likely self-inflicted and there’s no public safety threat.

Still, callers reported seeing two other vehicles at the scene prior to the deputies’ arrival. The Oregon State Police said the first was described as a dark blue or black, newer-model full-size pickup with a canopy and male driver. The second was described as a cream-colored full-size pickup.

Webb’s vehicle was a gray 2011 Toyota Tundra with Washington plates.

The Oregon State Police asked anyone who may have stopped at the scene to check on the man, or who may have more information, to call its office in The Dalles, Ore., at 541-296-9646.
