A motorcyclist was injured when he was rear-ended by one vehicle and then run over by another vehicle on state Highway 14 this morning.
Joseph Matsuoka, 56, of Camas was riding a 1986 Honda motorcycle west on the highway when he stopped for traffic near the 164th Avenue exit, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The driver of a westbound 2008 Volvo, Nathan Culver, 23, of Camas, was distracted when a spider dropped from the ceiling of his vehicle and he lost focus of the road, Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn said.
The Volvo struck the motorcycle; Matsuoka fell to the ground, and his motorcycle came to rest on the right shoulder, according to the State Patrol.
Another westbound vehicle, a 1999 Kia Sophia driven by Kathryn Hart, 20, of Wilsonville, Ore., then ran over Matsuoka before side-swiping a fourth vehicle, a 2006 Toyota Highlander, the State Patrol reported.
Matsuoka suffered two broken legs and facial injuries, and was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, State Patrol spokesman Will Finn said. His condition was not immediately available. No one else was injured.
Investigating troopers said that distracted driving caused the collision and cited Culver with second-degree negligent driving.
