A jury Wednesday found a local landlord accused of making unwanted sexual contact with a client not guilty.
David Clinton Campos, 36, was charged with indecent liberties with forcible compulsion and unlawful imprisonment after he was accused of forcing himself on the woman in August last year while showing her an apartment on McLoughlin Boulevard in Vancouver.
Vancouver attorney Beau Harlan, who represented Campos, noted inconsistences in the woman’s story over the course of several interviews.
Deputy Prosecutor Aaron Bartlett said Campos forced himself on the woman, and DNA found on the woman’s pants matched with Campos, who later admitted to the unwanted contact.
Man denied change of plea request
A judge Wednesday denied a Vancouver man’s request to change his guilty plea to charges of having unwanted sexual contact with more than a dozen clients as a massage therapist.
Valentin Delgado, 41, pleaded guilty in July to three counts of indecent liberties, bail jumping and 10 counts of fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation. The county prosecutor’s office said there are 13 clients who were victimized by Delgado.
Delgado sought to withdraw his guilty plea, but Clark County Superior Court Judge Robert Lewis denied his motion. His sentencing was set for 3 p.m. Dec. 30.
Delgado was arrested in April after allegedly going on the lam following his initial arrest. While he was gone, additional women came forward and accused him of making unwanted sexual contact, according to court documents.
The documents state that many of the victims, all women, reported being touched inappropriately during sessions. The alleged misconduct ranged from late 2012 to March 2015.
Delgado worked at several area businesses, including Bridge Chiropractic in Salmon Creek from July 2014 to April 2015; Estetica Day Spa in Longview from September 2013 to August 2014; Elements Therapeutic Massage in Vancouver from June 2013 to December 2013; Spoiled Spa and Salon in Vancouver from October 2011 to September 2013; and Hand & Stone in Vancouver from October 2011 to April 2013.
During the investigation, Vancouver police investigators contacted several massage agencies where Delgado worked and found a pattern of complaints, according to court documents.
