Despite fog and freezing fog in the metro area this morning, the day looks relatively favorable for travel around the Pacific Northwest.
The fog is anticipated to lift by 11 a.m., according to the National Weather Service, and temperatures are expected to remain above freezing in the I-5 corridor from the Willamette Valley north through Washington. Washington’s major mountain passes, including Snoqualmie, White and Satus, had no travel restrictions. (Chains were required on Stevens Pass, which is less used by Southwest Washington drivers.) A check of Washington State Department of Transportation cameras showed bare roads in the Tri-Cities and Spokane.
Farther afield, it’s one of the busiest days at Portland International Airport, but only a handful of flights were reported delayed or canceled, most to small destinations such as Crescent City, Calif. Parking was still readily available in all PDX lots; that situation could change by the weekend in the economy and long-term lots.
