Brush Prairie — The Rocksolid Community Teen Center received $10,000 in grant funds from the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington’s Jane Onsdorff Malmquist Charitable Fund. Malmquist was a teacher in the Battle Ground School District who retired in 1987. Her love for the community and desire to leave a legacy drove her to set up a charitable fund that gives special consideration to community needs in Battle Ground, according to a release from the center, which offers a safe after-school place for Battle Ground and Hockinson students in grades 5-12. The grant has some sentimental value to Marcy Sprecher, executive director of the center; Malmquist was her third-grade teacher at Chief Umtuch Elementary School.
