Bernie Sanders event planned Sunday at Hudson’s Bay High

Democratic presidential candidate and Vermont senator Bernie Sanders will visit Hudson's Bay High School Sunday morning, according to his campaign. The candidate's campaign website said the event is free and open to the public, but admission will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. Organizers encouraged guests to RSVP at the campaign website.

The Associated Press reports that doors will open at 11 a.m., with the rally beginning at 1 p.m.

The campaign asked guests to not bring bags and to limit what they take with them to small, personal items like keys and cellphones. Weapons, sharp objects, chairs, and signs or banners on sticks will not be allowed through security.

The main entrance will be on East McLoughlin Boulevard. Carpooling is encouraged. Public Transportation: C-Tran Bus Routes 3 and 30 to the East McLoughlin and Clark College stop.

The visit  comes the weekend before the Washington State Democratic Party holds its caucuses to choose its nominee. Sanders will also appear for campaign events in Seattle and Spokane later Sunday.

The state Democratic party’s caucuses start at 10 a.m. on March 26. Anyone who will be 18 by Nov. 8 this year and affirms they’re a Democrat on caucus day is eligible to participate in party caucuses.

Other presidential candidates to visit Vancouver include Republican George W. Bush in 2000, Democrat Dennis Kucinich in 2004 and, most recently, Republican Ron Paul in 2012.
