Amtrak service between Vancouver and Kelso has been suspended Tuesday after a landslide blocked the tracks Monday evening.
Heavily saturated land due to continued rainfall led to the landslide in Felida, resulting in a 40-foot-wide section of debris to block the tracks at about 5:30 p.m. Monday, BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas said.
Crews have removed the debris, but there is a 48-hour suspension required before the tracks are reopened, Melonas said.
Freight operations have resumed through the corridor, Melonas said, and BNSF will be monitoring the situation.
