A pre-dawn fire this morning displaced a Vancouver family, including a dog and a pet gecko.
The fire was reported at 5:52 a.m. at an apartment complex at 3901 E. 18th St., in the Maplewood neighborhood.
Vancouver firefighters responded and were able to limit damage to the apartment,but a family of three adults and a child was displaced due to smoke damage, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.
The fire is under control but units were still on the scene at 6:30 a.m.
A fire marshal has been called to investigate the cause and estimate damages. The American Red Cross will assist the family.
