A 38-year-old Battle Ground motorcyclist was injured Tuesday night after a slick roadway caused his bike to run off Northeast Salmon Creek Avenue near WSU Vancouver.
The man, Richard P. Isham, was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, where he was in satisfactory condition Wednesday morning.
Sheriff’s deputies actually became aware of the accident when it was reported as suspicious person. At 10:37 p.m. a resident in the 4700 block of Northeast Salmon Creek Avenue reported seeing a man in a ski mask with a flashlight diving into some bushes. Soon another caller reported an accident with a biker lying on the side of the roadway.
Deputies arrived and found that the biker had been driving a motorcycle along the wet, winding road when he missed a corner and ran off the road, nearly colliding with a tree. The prowler report was determined to be the man leaving the roadway and the flashlight was the motorcycle’s headlight, deputies said.
