Members of Clark County's Jewish community gathered Thursday to celebrate Purim, the holiday that commemorates a time when Jewish people living in the Persian Empire in the fourth century B.C. were miraculously saved from extermination. The festive holiday includes the reading the Megillat (Book of Esther), helping the poor and sharing a feast. It's also customary for adults and children to dress in costumes.
