People are already lining up at Portland’s Rose Quarter to hear presidential candidate Bernie Sanders speak this afternoon, and police are expecting a traffic jam as the hour for the speech approaches, and for several hours afterward.

Sanders is expected to speak between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. at the Moda Center.

The doors to the Moda Center, the arena where the Portland Trail Blazers play, will open at 9:45 a.m.

Because of limited parking, police are asking attendees to use transit to arrive at the venue.

Admission to the event is on a first come, first served basis. For security reasons, guests should not bring bags, and limit personal possessions to small items like keys and cell phones. Weapons, sharp objects, chairs, umbrellas, outside food and beverage (including water bottles) and signs/banners on sticks will not be allowed through security checkpoints. Metal detectors will be deployed.

Sanders spoke in Vancouver on Sunday to a capacity crowd at Hudson’s Bay High School.
