Officers with the Battle Ground Police Department tracked down a trailer stolen from a local church and cited a driver for hit-and-run after following up on information from tipsters.
The department went to the public for help April 13, and by the next day had tracked down the driver of a motor home that struck property near the corner of Northeast Grace Avenue and 10th Street earlier this month.
Officers found the driver of the motor home, Bryan C. Peake, 28. Peake, originally from Kansas and now staying in Oregon City, was cited for hit and run, according to the police.
A trailer, reported as stolen from North Creek Church in Battle Ground April 6, also has since been recovered, the police said.
The trailer was carrying sound equipment used for church services. Although the trailer’s contents appeared to be intact, church staff will need to check, the police said, adding no suspects have been identified and the case was still open.
