The Salvation Army has proposed demolishing its office building north of downtown Washougal and replacing it with a larger modular building. The current building next to the chapel is 1,766 square feet and the new building would be 4,565 square feet, according to paperwork submitted to the city of Washougal by the Portland-based architecture and engineering firm CIDA.

The application also calls for a reduction in required on-site parking, because the parking lot will have to be reconfigured to accommodate the bigger building.

The public can comment on the project until 5 p.m. June 2 by emailing jessica.herceq@cityofwashougal.us or by mailing a letter to Washougal City Hall. A tentative hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. July 13 at City Hall, 1701 C St.
