A man admitted to driving 140 mph prior to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near La Center early this morning, according to Washington State Patrol.

The crash was reported just before 4 a.m. near the I-5 NB La Center onramp, Trooper Will Finn said.

The causing driver told troopers he was driving 140 mph prior to the collision, Finn said. He suffered a broken collar bone and possibly broken ankle and the other driver involved in the collision suffered facial lacerations and was not conscious at the scene, Finn said.

Both drivers were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and their condition was not available.

Washington State Patrol traffic detectives are investigating the incident as a possible vehicular assault and will be on scene for the next few hours collecting evidence and documenting the scene, Finn said.
