Detectives are investigating after a man was found lying in a pool of blood at Marine Park late Sunday night. Police say the man is expected to survive.
A citizen called 911 at 11:50 p.m. Sunday after finding a man in the north parking lot of Marine Park, located along the Columbia River west of the Water Resource Education Center, Vancouver Police Department Spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.
Officers arrived and found the man had significant injuries to his head, Kapp said. Medical personnel took him to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.
The man’s condition is unknown, though Kapp said that he is expected to survive his injuries.
Detectives say it is unknown what caused the injuries and that the man was not able to be interviewed based on his need for treatment, Kapp said.
Police are not releasing the victim’s name in order to protect his safety.
Major crimes detectives have not located any witnesses and are still working to figure out a time frame for the incident, Kapp said. They are continuing their investigation.
