The teenage motorcyclist injured in a crash Friday night remains in critical condition at an area hospital.

Keaten Wells, 17, was driving a motorcycle on Southeast St. Johns Road when he collided with a Jeep that stopped to make a turn onto Northeast 65th Street, Vancouver Police Department Spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

Prior to the crash Wells was seen driving without hands, popping wheelies and weaving in and out of traffic recklessly down St. Johns Road, Kapp said.

He was ejected in the collision and was rushed to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, where he remained in the intensive care unit in critical condition Monday.

Because the motorcyclist is considered the causing driver in the crash, the driver of the Jeep, Matthew Lefebvre, 22, of Ridgefield was not cited in the investigation, Kapp said.

However the investigation, she added, is continuing.
