A convicted sex offender accused of exposing himself to a 12-year-old boy in a restroom at the Orchards Fred Meyer was sentenced Friday to six months in jail.

Rey F. Leno, 69, of Brush Prairie pleaded guilty in Clark County Superior Court to indecent exposure — as a non-sex offense — in connection with the March 18 incident. Leno has several convictions for indecent exposure, and his last conviction was a felony because he is a repeat offender, court records show.

On Friday, the victim’s father told the court that Leno stole his son’s innocence and will continue to be inappropriate with children. His son also wrote a letter asking for a sentence longer than six months.

Leno’s defense attorney, Todd Pascoe, suggested banning Leno from public restrooms, given his history.

Judge Gregory Gonzales ordered that Leno cannot use restrooms in Fred Meyer stores.

“This behavior needs to stop. Do you understand that? You need to stay away from children,” Gonzales told Leno.

Leno was given credit for 35 days in custody. He also will have to undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation.
