Vancouver — Vancouver Public Schools’ Gaiser Middle School was named a Green Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education on Friday. It’s one of only three Washington schools — and the only one in Clark County — to be recognized for reducing energy use, promoting student health and providing environmental education. It was one of 47 schools nationwide to receive the designation.
Gaiser Middle School partners with water resource centers, waste management companies and public utilities, among others, to reduce electricity, natural gas, and water consumption; reduce solid waste; and increase recycling and composting programs.
